This month, we celebrated Volunteers' Week, which was first established in 1984 by what was then known as Volunteering England. This year celebrated the 40th anniversary, from Monday 3rd to Sunday 9th June.
We gave all our volunteers a huge appreciation and wanted them to know how valuable they are and will always be. We would also like to encourage any volunteer who wishes to serve the community to be part of our community work.
We asked our volunteers what inspires them, and here are some of the responses we received:
"When I help an elderly person and make them happy, I know that someone in my home country might be helping my parent while I am here away from them, and it makes me feel so grateful to have this opportunity."
"Getting the chance to do volunteer work helps me upskill and helps me get the valuable experience I need to get a better job. It gives me so much confidence."
Their words remind us that volunteering is not just about giving one's time; it's about giving one's heart. Our volunteers are the lifeblood of our organisation, and we are truly grateful for their selfless service. If you, too, feel inspired to make a difference in your community, we warmly invite you to join us. Together, we can create a better world, one act of kindness at a time.
